Overview
Under the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) introduced by the Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY), specific electronic and IT products (such as laptops, mobile phones, smartwatches, LED TVs, adapters, and power banks) must be tested and registered with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) before they can be imported, manufactured, or sold in India. Obtaining the BIS standard mark (with a unique R-Number) ensures the product meets Indian safety standards. Selling these notified products without BIS registration is illegal and shipments will be confiscated by Indian Customs.
