Who is eligible for Startup India registration?▼
Only Private Limited Companies, LLPs, and Registered Partnerships that are less than 10 years old and have an annual turnover not exceeding Rs. 100 Crore are eligible. Proprietorships cannot apply.
Does DPIIT recognition automatically grant tax exemption?▼
No. DPIIT recognition is the first step. To get the 3-year income tax exemption, the recognized startup must make a separate application to the Inter-Ministerial Board (IMB).
What qualifies as an "innovative" business?▼
A business is considered innovative if it is developing a new product/service, significantly improving an existing product, or has a highly scalable model with potential for high wealth/employment generation.
