Register on the Indian Customs Electronic Gateway (ICEGATE) for electronic filing of shipping bills, bills of entry, and claiming IGST refunds.
Overview
ICEGATE (Indian Customs Electronic Commerce/Electronic Data Interchange Gateway) is the national portal of Indian Customs that provides e-filing services to trade, cargo carriers, and other clients of the Customs Department. For any importer or exporter in India, having an active ICEGATE registration is mandatory. It enables the electronic filing of Bill of Entry (for imports), Shipping Bills (for exports), and is the only mechanism through which exporters can track and claim their IGST refunds or Duty Drawbacks directly into their bank accounts.

Frequently Asked Questions
Helpful answers to common regulatory inquiries.
Is ICEGATE Registration different from IEC?▼
Yes. IEC (Import Export Code) is your license to trade globally, issued by the DGFT. ICEGATE is the portal managed by Customs where you actually file the paperwork to move the goods.
What is an AD Code?▼
An Authorized Dealer (AD) Code is a 14-digit number provided by your bank where you have a current account. Customs requires this code to monitor foreign exchange transactions related to your exports.
Do I need to register at every port separately?▼
Under the new centralized system, AD Code registration done at one port is generally valid across all Indian customs ports. However, specific port configurations may still be required.
