EPF Registration (Provident Fund)
Register under the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). Mandatory compliance for businesses with 20 or more employees.
Overview
The Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) is a social security scheme regulated by the EPFO. Registration is legally mandatory for any establishment that employs 20 or more persons (inclusive of contract laborers). Under this scheme, both the employer and the employee contribute 12% of the employee’s basic salary towards the provident fund, providing the employee with retirement, medical, and housing security. Failing to register or delaying contributions attracts severe penal damages and potential criminal action under the EPF Act.
